We all share the same passion for photography: taking pictures, looking at other people's masterpieces, sharing our photos and comparing equipment with our friends and peers.  Sooner or later, you will start collecting antique cameras (still and movie) and accessories for various reasons: to relive long-gone enjoyable moments or experience some of the glorious moments that our predecessors have had setting up their cumbersome, but so exciting, apparatus.

photo-direct.net allows you to enter extensive amounts of information in your personal camera collection database to achieve the following objectives:

1) Keep a complete and detailed record of what you own (and how much this passion is costing you!). You can attach photos to each collectible.

2) Have a quick way of filing insurance claims in case of loss or damages.

3) Show your peers and friends some of your cherished acquisitions in your personal Virtual Museum, and gather comments and ratings from visitors; know how many people have viewed each one of your collectibles. You decide which equipment is for Public View, and which is for Private View (accessible only with a valid password), and which for your Personal View only.

4) Browse through other people's camera collections to research specific cameras or accessories before making a purchase, or just to satisfy your curiosity and passion for antique cameras. While browsing other people's collectibles, you can put any viewed item in your personal Collection Folder for future reference, as well as post a comment and rate it.

6) Keep track of your collectibles when they are out on loan for an event or to friends, or being repaired, etc.

7) Get for free scanned images of old equipment User's Manuals and other documentation.

8) Share your passion and get help from, or give help to, your friends—collectors across the world—by participating in the Forum dedicated to Camera Collectors.

9) Save money with group discounts and special deals on insurance premiums, airfares, equipment purchases, etc., when available.

10) Last but not least, aren't you tired of having to hop among a dozen or so camera collection sites and forums to satisfy your passion? This is precisely what we are trying to do, hopefully with your help. ASSET MANAGEMENT

The Camera Collection and Asset Management software in the Collectors section is also a good place to store information on your daily-use photographic equipment, or any asset that you wish to keep track of..

At long last, you can now track your equipment and have access to your inventory from anywhere in the world. Very convenient if you’ve just lost or damaged a piece of equipment while traveling on a shooting assignment.
